Welcome to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tradingpost's Yu-Gi-Oh! Game Rules FAQa

If you have any questions about the rules of the game, email AIPlaYa

Q.

Could you please tell me if you can reborn a monster that has been destroyed due to Card Destruction or is gone for the duel?

Q.

Can a Remove Trap stop the effect of a Trap Hole? If not does it have to do with Spell Speeds? Explain...

Q.

Can you De-Spell a De-Spell

Q.

If your opponent has less monsters on the field than you and you attack each of them, and destroy them, do/does the other monster(s) do direct damage?

Q.

Related to the last question: in the TV show they never do direct damage to the opponent even if they have more monsters than they do, so I was wondering if I was actually playing the right way. The characters in the show only attack with 1 monster each turn. Is that why you start out with 8000LP instead of 2000LP in the show so if you are attacked with direct damage you aren't destroyed so fast?

Q.

Can you review how Waboku works exactly and does it apply to all of your opponents or just one?

Q.

Can I set a card like Fissure or Dark Hole or Raigeki on the field and then use them in response to an attack? I.e. to kill or remove the monster before it does damage? We are unsure if their speed changes once they become set. Your answer about the trap hole has already helped.

Q.

Can I activate Last Will on my opponents turn as he is attacking me and killing my creatures?

Q.

When playing Two-Pronged Attack (destroys 2 of your own monsters and 1 of your opponents monsters) can you destroy monsters from your hand or do they have to be on the field?

Q.

Trap Hole destroys 1 opponents summoned monster that has an attack of 1000 or higher. Do you have to destroy this monster right when its summoned or can you wait til a later time to destroy it.

Q.

I wanted to know how Ultimate Offering works "At the cost of 500 LP per monster, a player is allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set" Does this mean after the 1 normal summon or set you get per turn you can play as many other monsters as you want (as long as you dont exceed the 5 card limit) and take away 500 LP per monster after the first summon? Could you explain this card to the best of your ability.

Q.

The Mysterious Puppeteers effect (when this card is summoned or flipped face-up by attack or some effect the LP of this cards owner increase by 500 per monster while this card is face-on the field.) I was wondering if this effect refers to all monsters on the field or all the owners monsters?

Q.

Remove Trap says it destroys 1 face-up trap card on the field. If magic cards can only be played in main phase 1 or 2 and are destroyed right away, how can they destroy trap cards which have a faster speed (in a chain). I may have just confused you but could you explain how this card works or give me an example.

Q.

If the Lord of the D. is on the field can my opponent play Trap hole against my dragons? What other cards can and cannot be played against dragons while this card is on the field?

Q.

Is it possible to use use more than one of the same equip magic card to combine there power to give the equipped monster an even higher bonus? If this can be done, are there any equip magic cards you can't do it with?

Q.

If a monster effect card is not a flip effect card can you summon the monster to the field from your hand and activate its effect or do all effect monsters have to be set first.

Q.

Can Catapult Turtle's effect only be used as soon as it's summoned or can you save the effect for a later turn. Also can you use the effect of this card once per turn or does it have to state that you can on the card to use it more than once?

Q.

Is there any strategy to eliminate a sword of deep seated card from the duel? This is a good card to use ,but can be annoying when your opponent uses it against you becaue it alway s returns to the the top of his deck when destroyed. Any ideas on how to get rid of this card permanently from a duel (or at least for a little While?)

Q.

Can Solomn Judgement stop Exodia from being summoned?

Q.Could you please tell me if you can reborn a monster that has been destroyed due to Card Destruction or is gone for the duel?
A.You can use Monster Reborn on a monster destroyed by Card Destruction. However if the monster has been removed from the duel by a card like Soul Release then it cannot be brought back by Monster Reborn.

Q.Can a Remove Trap stop the effect of a Trap Hole? If not does it have to do with Spell Speeds? Explain...
A.No Remove Trap cannot be used against Trap Hole. Your right the reason does in fact have to do with Spell Speeds. In your Official Rule Book it explains that Normal Magic Cards (like Remove Trap) are Spell Speed Level 1 and cannot be used against any other Spell Speed. The Official Rule Book then moves on to Level 2 where you see Trap Cards (like Trap Hole) are listed and can be used against Spell Speed Level 1 and 2. Since Remove Trap is a Level 1 Spell Speed then it cannot be used against a Level 2 Spell Speed like Trap Hole.

Q.Can you De-Spell a De-Spell
A.No because De-Spell is a normal magic card it is discarded imediatly after you use it's effect. Also you cannot play normal magic cards on your opponent's turn making it impossible in the first place. The only situation where this would be possible is if your opponent has the de-spell card face down on the magic section, and you chose to dispell that card

Q.If your opponent has less monsters on the field than you and you attack each of them, and destroy them, do/does the other monster(s) do direct damage?
A.Yes. So if you have three monsters on the field and your opponent has only two, then if you can destroy your opponent's two monsters your third monster will do direct damage.

A.Do not pay attention to the way they play Duel Monsters in the T.V. show. The rules on the show are in no way related to the rules of the real life card game.

Q. Can you review how Waboku works exactly and does it apply to all of your opponents or just one?
A.Waboku prevents all damage done to you for one turn. This means that you can flip it when your opponent attacks, thus protecting all of your monstsers and your lifepoints.

Q. Can I set a card like Fissure or Dark Hole or Raigeki on the field and then use them in response to an attack? I.e. to kill or remove the monster before it does damage? We are unsure if their speed changes once they become set. Your answer about the trap hole has already helped.
A.No you can't do that. The speed of a magic card doesn't change when it's set on the field (i think you might be confused about chains. For a chain to work you must have the cards set on the field already you cannot play cards straight from your hand in a chain). Also you can't play normal magic cards on your opponent's turn so you could not use Fissure, Dark Hole, or Raigeki in response to an attack.

Q. Can I activate Last Will on my opponents turn as he is attacking me and killing my creatures?
A.No. As I said before normal magic cards cannot be played on your opponent's turn therefore, you must use Last Will on your own turn (check the Combo's section for a nice way to use Last Will).

Q.When playing Two-Pronged Attack (destroys 2 of your own monsters and 1 of your opponents monsters) can you destroy monsters from your hand or do they have to be on the field?
A.You must destroy two monsters from the field. For if you never put a monster on the field (Summon or Set) it cannot not be destroyed merely discarded.

Q. Trap Hole destroys 1 opponents summoned monster that has an attack of 1000 or higher. Do you have to destroy this monster right when its summoned or can you wait til a later time to destroy it.
A.You must destroy the monster when it is summoned.

Q.I wanted to know how Ultimate Offering works "At the cost of 500 LP per monster, a player is allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set" Does this mean after the 1 normal summon or set you get per turn you can play as many other monsters as you want (as long as you dont exceed the 5 card limit) and take away 500 LP per monster after the first summon? Could you explain this card to the best of your ability.
A.You are allowed as many extra summons as possible as long as you do not go over the five monster limit on the field. Also, this trap card is in effect until the trap is destroyed.

Q.The Mysterious Puppeteers effect (when this card is summoned or flipped face-up by attack or some effect the LP of this cards owner increase by 500 per monster while this card is face-on the field.) I was wondering if this effect refers to all monsters on the field or all the owners monsters?
A.Yes, you receive 500 LP for each and every monster on the field (including Mysterious Puppeteer) including your opponent's monsters. This card works well if you and your opponent have 3+ monsters on the field.

Q.Remove Trap says it destroys 1 face-up trap card on the field. If magic cards can only be played in main phase 1 or 2 and are destroyed right away, how can they destroy trap cards which have a faster speed (in a chain). I may have just confused you but could you explain how this card works or give me an example.
A.Remove Trap cannot be used in a chain. All this card is really does is remove a continuous trap card such as Dragon Capture Jar or Ultimate Offering. I don't recommend using this card. The card Trap Master is much better since it's effect allows you to look at a face down card in your opponent's Magic & Trap Card Zone. So even if the card you chose isn't a trap you still find out about one of your opponent's magic cards.

Q.If the Lord of the D. is on the field can my opponent play Trap hole against my dragons? What other cards can and cannot be played against dragons while this card is on the field?
A.As it states on the Lord of the D. the effect protects dragons from effects that specifically designate a monster,  This means that Trap Hole would work becuase the player does not choose the dragon.  Cards that would not be allowed to be played against dragons would include magic cards such as stim pack, and dragon treasure.  Also, the dragons would be protected against the effects of a Hane-Hane and Man Eating Bug.

Q.Is it possible to use use more than one of the same equip magic card to combine there power to give the equipped monster an even higher bonus? If this can be done, are there any equip magic cards you can't do it with?
A.Yes, it is possible to use more than one of the same equip magic card on one monster. The effects of the magic cards will combine. (Example, wo dragon treasure cards will boost the attack and defense of a dragon type monster by 600.  Also, I have never come across a magic card that is an exception to this rule.

Q.If a monster effect card is not a flip effect card can you summon the monster to the field from your hand and activate its effect or do all effect monsters have to be set first.
A.Not all effect monsters have to be in set mode to begin with. For Example, the Witch of the Black Forest can be put directly into attack mode, and when it is destroyed, the effect will still occur.

Q.Can Catapult Turtle's effect only be used as soon as it's summoned or can you save the effect for a later turn. Also can you use the effect of this card once per turn or does it have to state that you can on the card to use it more than once?
A.Catapult Turtle's effect can be used as often as you wish.  It does not matter if you just summoned the monster or if it is in attack or defense mode.

Q.Is there any strategy to eliminate a sword of deep seated card from the duel? This is a good card to use ,but can be annoying when your opponent uses it against you becaue it alway s returns to the the top of his deck when destroyed. Any ideas on how to get rid of this card permanently from a duel (or at least for a little While?)
A.In my opinion, Sword of Deep seated is a very powerful card, and I am not sure if there is a way to remove it permanently (or temporarily from the game).  From how I interpret the rules, you opponent will only put the card to the top of their deck at the beginnning of their turn.  So the only way to remove it would be if after you destroy their card you use Soul Release.

Q.Can Solomn Judgement stop Exodia from being summoned?
A.No, this is because in the official rules, Exodia is never actually summoned. Instant victory is given to the duelist who holds all five pieces of Exodia in their hand. The duelist must not have any summoned pieces to achieve the instant victory.
