Episode 6 - First Duel

The beginning of the episode stars with a boy crying that Mai had cheated in the last game by knowing which cards came up. Mai sees the group approaching, and she challenges Joey to a duel. They don't think that Joey can win, however Joey is more than confident with his abilities. The duel starts and Joey's first card is the legendary swordsman. Mai chooses a harpies lady without even looking. YuGi tells Joey not to attack because land based monsters have a disadvantage against air monsters, however Joey does not listen and attacks. Joey continues to play land based monster, and Mai keeps on destroying his monsters and his life points. Mai taunts the group, and says that they should ditch Joey because he is such a poor duelist. YuGi tells Joey that she is trying to break up the group of friends, and that he can still win. Joey plays the Baby Dragon, while Mai plays the Elegant Egotist to create more copies of the harpy lady. Joey at this point doesn't know how to win, until he remembers that YuGi had given him the Time Wizard, which could get him out of a sticky situation. Joey believes in the heart of the cards, and is able to draw the Time Wizard. He plays the wizard down, and his Baby Dragon transforms into the Thousand Dragon. At the same time, the Harpy Lady's grow old and feeble. This allows Joey to defeat Mai and take one of her star chips. Mai is left wondering how a rookie was able to beat her. The group continues to walk around the island, and they walk near the ocean.
