Episode 3 - Journey to the Duelist Kingdom
Tea is facing Joey in a duel at the beginning of the show. Joey loses again, because his deck only contains monster cards. YuGi explains that a good deck also needs magic cards. This causes them to have a flashback about how Joey and YuGi became friends. YuGi was trying to complete the Millennium puzzle, but then Joey threw one of the pieces into the water. While YuGi went to get the puzzle piece, the real bully came and started to pick on Tristian and Joey. YuGi tried to stick up for them, but since YuGi is the smallest kid in school, all three of them got beaten up. Joey says that from that point on, he will be YuGi's friend because he is so brave.
YuGi decides to head to Duelist Kingdom in order to save Grandpa. However, none of his friends can go because they were not invited. YuGi was given two star chips, and he gives one to Joey so they can both head over to duel. This causes YuGi to be at a disadvantage, because he only has one star chip to wager in the kingdom. Tea and Tristian decided to sneak onto the boat.
Once on the boat, we meet a duelist named Mai. She is a very cunning duelist and uses the harpy ladies in her deck. She challenges Rex Raptor to a game of duel monsters in order to win his luxury room.
Weevil meets YuGi and congratulates him for beating Kaiba. He says wants to see YuGi's Exodia cards. After taking a look at them, Weevil throws the cards into the water! Joey jumps into the water and tries to rescue the cards. However, the strong current causes him to almost drown, until YuGi jumps off to try and save him. At this point Mai and Tristian come out from their hiding spot and rescue their two friends. The episode ends with the group of friends approaching the island.
