Episode 2 - The Gauntlet is Thrown
This episode begins by Tea(Tay-a) dueling against Joey. Joey really sucks at the game, because he has no magic cards, and only relies on monster cards. YuGi tells him that if he wants to become a better player, that he should take lessons from Grandpa. They decide to head over, and Joey is taught how to play.
That night, there is a Regional Tournament and the two finalists are Weevil and Rex Raptor. Weval uses bug monsters, while Rex Raptor likes to use Dinosaur monsters. They have an intense battle, but Weval comes out on top. Maximillion Pegasus (inventor of Duel Monsters) comes to congratulate Weval. Pegasus has an idea to host a great tournament on Dualist Kingdom. This will be able to attract the best dualist and hopefully people that posses Millennium items.
YuGi, received a box earlier in the day, and finally opens it after watching the tournament. Inside the box is a glove, and also a video tape. YuGi starts to watch the tape. To his surprised, everyone in the room becomes frozen. This is because the tape contains Pegasus, and he has transported him and YuGi to the Shadow Realm. The begin duel in the shadow realm under the condition that they only have 15 minutes to battle, and the winner is declared as whoever has the highest life points at the end. YuGi almost wins, however, the time runs out. Pegasus then takes Grandpa's soul, and says that if YuGi wants to wants to save his Grandpa that he must come to Dualist Kingdom.
