Roundtable Discussion #3

Is there Heart of the Cards?

This roundtable discussion consists of AiPlaya, 2xhelix, and Cyberslayer.

2xhelix: Wow, this week has been quiet busy. Heading back to school is sure a drag. I’m taking 6 courses this term, it’s gonna be a killer. But anyway, today we are here to discuss Heart of the Cards. We know that Heart of the cards is a huge theme in the TV show, but do people have this power in real life?
AIPlaya: As I said before, I have this power. I can feel when my cards are about to come up. I duel for a loved one (myself) and of course I win.
Cyberslayer:Isn’t the point of heart of the cards that you duel for other people?
AIPlaya: No, it’s dueling for a loved one. I love myself, this is the first step in mastering the Heart of the Cards.
Cyberslayer: that’s the stupidest thing I’ve heard since we started this round table. It’s impossible to get the right cards at exactly the right time in duels. Since you say you have HOTC (Heart of the Cards), then you must never lose in any duels.
AIPlaya: Oh I can lose, only if I want to lose, or if I didn’t try. Sometimes, you have to lose to let your opponents have a bit of fun. There’s no point in getting my Exodia every game, it gets boring after a games.
2xhelix: Ok AIPlaya, we are discussing HOTC, not how great of a duelist you are. Why would you say that you need to duel for a loved one in order to harness the HOTC power?
AIPlaya: The reason is the following, HOTC, means that the duelist and his deck have formed a deep bond. This bond is only because you have love. By bonding with the deck, you are able to duel more efficiently since you’ve spent a lot of time with your deck. You know it inside and out.
Cyberslayer: It’s more about luck than knowing your deck. If you had bad luck the whole day, who cares if you memorize your deck, you still are going to lose. HOTC is some cheesy thing they put into the show. Dueling is 50% Luck, 50% skill, 0% HOTC. If you want to will most duels, you just need to be lucky, and have a decent amount of skills.
AIPlaya: That’s so untrue, Luck has little to do with duel monsters. That’s why I love this game so much. If you are using a deck that you personally constructed, you get a feeling, of when cards will eventually pop. You will know that somewhere in your deck is a Monster Reborn card, and you can prepare in advance since you know it can be drawn.
Cyberslayer: That’s why I said it’s luck, Monster Reborn is restricted to 1 per deck, this means, you will only have a 1 in 40 chance of drawing it. Let’s say my opponent is down to 1000 LP. I have no monsters on the field, but my Blue Eyes is sitting in the graveyard. The opponent has a face up attack position monster card. If I draw a monster reborn, I win; otherwise I lose. How can you say that the next card will be a monster reborn?
AIPlaya: Well, if up to that point in the duel, the Monster Reborn card has not been drawn, the chances are a lot higher. Let’s say you’ve gone through 20 cards, so now it’s only a 1/20 chance that Monster Reborn will be the next card. Wait a second; your setup doesn’t even make sense. What if I draw a monster card and place it into defense mode that would prevent me from losing as well. Anyway, it seems like the odds are not in favour, but I’m telling you, using the Heart of the Cards will allow you to win.
2xhelix: How about we setup an experiment? I’ll hand Aiplaya 20 cards, and he can do his jumbo HOTC magic to it, and see if he pulls out a Monster Reborn card.
AIPlaya: That’s stupid; it’s not even a real duel, how about cyberslayer and I do a quick 1 round duel with only 2000LP.
2xhelix: Sounds sweet, Cyberslayer are you up to it?
Cyberslayer: I suck at duel monsters, this is really stupid.
2xhelix: But, how about you duel for a loved one? Think about someone you really love, and if you win the duel, then you can be with them!
Cyberslayer: Uh, what ever, I’ll just try my best. Besides, my deck is really bad compared to AIPlaya’s deck.
AIPlaya: It’s time to D-D-D-uel. (Humming the Theme Song to YuGiOh!)
2xhelix: We aren’t on TV, stop that annoying clone of it. Well, I don’t think I will do play by play announcement of this duel, because it takes to long. I’ll update this when there are some good cards played, and some sweet combos are used. Wow, AIPlaya’s Man Eater Bug just took out Cyberslayer’s Dark Magician. What’s this? AIPlaya’s Reverse Trap combo really got cyberslayer. Aiplaya had equipped items onto Cyberslayer’s monster. Oh no, it looks like Cyberslayer is going to lose this duel. This is so fun. He is down to 200 LP, with no monsters on the field. AIPlaya has his La Jinn equipped with Sword of Dark Destruction, and a Yami for the field bonus.
Aiplaya: It’s over for you Cyberslayer. See, I was able to pull some amazing cards from my deck. This is your last turn, it’s all over.
Cyberslayer: No, I must believe. HOTC … HOTC … OH great, … what’s this? Blue Eyes White Dragon!! I’m the best!! Yah ,.. it’s over. I win I win, 3000 Attack points. HOTC HOTC!!
AIPlaya: Really? Oh I lost, I’m a really bad player. Cyberslayer, see you had HOTC as well. Hrmm .. Wait , no I lied. You lost. Blue Eyes needs a tribute. Good game, now go away.
2xhelix: Thanks for the sarcasm AIPlaya. Cyberslayer used HOTC but he lost. This must mean HOTC does not exist.
AIPlaya: He didn’t use it, he used some washed down version. Only the most talented and true duelst have this power.
Cyberslayer: What ever, you were just lucky this game. Next time I will win. Besides, you had better cards to begin with.
2xhelix: Well, what a round table we had today. We really didn’t discuss a lot on Heart of the Cards. What we concluded, or at least by AIPlaya is that some players have this ability others do not. Cyberslayer for one, does not have the Heart of the Cards ability. How about you readers? Do you have the Heart of the Cards?

I believe that the heart of the cards has something to do with your heart. To use heart of the cards you must believe in it and that you can use the true heart of the cards.

The Heart of the Cards?
I think its a fun idea but mostly I use it to mess with people. Course when I told my friend I was gonna use it on her the next card I drew was my Blue Eyes so it might work. I guess it depends on the person.
